DC motor for extruder goes to Ivory Coast
Our DC motor department recently received an urgent request for an extruder drive from the Ivory Coast. At one of the largest West African manufacturers of PVC pipes and PVC fittings the main drive for an extruder had failed. In order to be able to restart the production again soon, a direct-fit DC motor must be found as a replacement as quickly as possible.
The customer found what they were looking for in Berlin, Germany, because motor manufacturer MENZEL was able to quickly adapt a stocked DC motor with the required 150 kW and 440 V for the extruder and fly it to the Ivory Coast by express air freight.
DC and AC motors for extruders
Originally, DC motors with a downstream two or three-stage spur gear, to adjust the speed, were used in extruder applications. However, energy-optimized extruders today predominantly use three-phase AC drives consisting of a standard asynchronous motor with a frequency converter.
MENZEL offers both types of customized drive solution: application-specific DC motors and AC asynchronous motors for industrial plants all over the world. We continuously receive requests for direct current motors as replacement motors for older extruders and other systems. The technology of direct current motors (DC motors) still has its rightful place in many industrial applications.
Many designs are directly available from our warehouse. Individual adjustments can be made within a very short time.
