Squirrel cage motors for PVC plant in UK

Menzel was assigned to supply two squirrel cage induction motors for a PVC plant in England. The most interesting technical feature was the extraordinary long motor shaft of 460mm, which was mounted in a vertical bearing. Between the vertical bearing and the motor bearing a belt pulley had been attached for belt transmission. The customer requested short delivery times, which is why a stocked motor was used. Menzel had some factory-new motors available from stock and made some quick adjustments according to the customers’ requests e.g. a longer shaft and roller bearings for absorbing the radial forces.
